The FAA banned flights to Haiti because a Spirit Airlines plane was shot at while it was trying to land in Port-au-Prince, Haiti's capital, and one flight attendant was injured.

The United Nations said it will also suspend flights, 'obviously limiting the flow of humanitarian aid and humanitarian personnel into the country.'

The FAA barred flights to the Caribbean island country after gunshots struck an incoming flight. "Continued violence" also closed the U.S. embassy on Tuesday.
