As per CBI, Dr Birupaksha Biswas was seen at the hospital on August 9 – the day of the crime – despite no official engagement there.

The CBI is investigating the North Bengal lobby of doctors concerning the R G Kar Medical College crime. Senior resident doctor Birupaksha Biswas and first-year PGT doctor Avik De were questioned about a rape and murder case.

Biswas was recently transferred from Burdwan Medical College and Hospital to Kakdwip Hospital in South 24 Parganas district by the West Bengal government. He appeared before CBI officers at their CGO Complex office in Salt Lake area,
