A tropical system in the Caribbean Sea could develop as it moves northward into the Gulf of Mexico, the National Hurricane Center says.

Hurricane forecasters continue to monitor a broad area of low pressure in the Caribbean Sea and two low-pressure systems stirring in the Atlantic Ocean, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami. The area of low-pressure in the Caribbean has a chance of developing into a tropical system early to the middle of next week, forecasters said.

Forecast models continue to advertise slow tropical development beginning next week across the northwestern Caribbean, with a system that could pivot into the southern Gulf of Mexico by the middle to latter part of the week.
