To create a Genmoji, iPhone users should open the messages app, tap on the emoji icon, begin typing a description in the text field and then tap on “Create new emoji.” After a few seconds, several options should appear waiting to be chosen.

Apple’s latest iOS 18.1 software updates introduced a series of Apple Intelligence features, including Writing Tools and notification summaries. However, Here’s what you need to know about Genmoji, the Apple Intelligence feature that many people are excited about.

People have been getting excited about a ‘hack’ to create their own emojis on iPhone. Apple announced that you’d soon be able to use AI to make ‘genmojis’ by typing in a prompt. The feature hasn’t been released yet, but in the meantime, the sticker function lets you make little emoji-sized images that do the job too.

While Genmoji is limited to the best iPhones running iOS 18.2, iPhone 15 owners and below with iOS 18.1 are able to take advantage of the custom-themed icons. By simply selecting the images and turning them into stickers, even iPhones that aren't compatible with Apple Intelligence can get in on the action.
