( WMBF /Gray News) – More than a week after 43 monkeys escaped a South Carolina compound that breeds the primates for medical research, residents in the state are on the lookout for someone’s pet emus. Artie Morace, 71, said two of his three emus got loose during two incidents earlier this year in June.

A pair of emus are on the loose in northern Horry County, three months after breaking free of their enclosure, police and the bird’s owner said. “For everyone that keeps seeing an emu, yes it is mine.
