A man pedaling an electric bicycle died Thursday in a collision with a truck in Orangevale, according to the California Highway Patrol. Officers were alerted about 4:30 p.m. to the collision at Beech and Elm avenues, said Officer Trent Senter, a spokesman with the CHP’s East Sacramento office.

CHP officers will conduct the checkpoint in Sacramento County from 8 p.m. to midnight, the agency said, but it did not specify a time for the one in Placer County. California law requires that checkpoints be announced ahead of time, but not necessarily their precise location.

The California Highway Patrol announced that its officers will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in Sacramento County on Friday night. The agency said the checkpoint will be located somewhere in the unincorporated part of the county.
